Project Hail Mary: Amazon MGM's Biggest Box Office Success

Project Hail Mary has become a major box office success for Amazon MGM, grossing over $300 million worldwide. This achievement marks the company's highest-grossing film to date, surpassing the previous record held by Creed III, which earned $276 million.

The success of Project Hail Mary is particularly noteworthy given that streaming platforms typically don't prioritize theatrical releases. However, Amazon MGM has shifted its strategy, announcing plans last April to release 14 films in theaters this year, including titles like Is God Is, Masters of the Universe, and Verity.

Based on Andy Weir's 2021 novel (the same author behind The Martian), Project Hail Mary stars Ryan Gosling as Ryland Grace, a high school teacher who awakens on a spacecraft with no memory of his identity or mission. The film has received mostly positive reviews and boasts a 95 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
